The annual Nexus Art Night was hosted at Hershey High School on Thursday, April 16th, 2026, where a lot of different kinds of art were showcased for the HHS community. There were a multitude of activities at this event, including art galleries, shops, and open mic.
The shopping stalls displayed an impressive array of trinkets. They had character stickers, reference sketches of themselves, model trains, and more for the general public. People could buy a variety of items for $1-5 using cash, Venmo, or Cash App.
Open mic was an amazing opportunity for students and teachers to showcase their artistic abilities, with storytelling, instruments, singing, or comedy, you could never get bored. Some of the highlights were the Jazz Combo, a singing performance by Julia Aluquin, and a marimba duet by Colin Starr and Nick Devlin.
Jianna Orosa, a HHS student who attended, said, “Just the fact that people are able to share their passion, it’s really nice to see, like the variety as well as the different styles people put out with their art as well.”
One of the main art galleries was in the LGI, where all the AP Art students’ work was on display for the public to see. The works were diverse in variety and showcased their own talents to parents and students alike. Some of these students included Julio Tapia Contreras, Dayme You, and Maya Darowish. Other art galleries featured collage books and other art class pieces in the art hallway.
There were many student artworks published in this year’s edition of the Nexus Arts Journal, ranging from poetry, photography, visual art, and even music. People who submitted their work to the journal could get the book for free on site.
Ephraim Triscik, president of Nexus, said, “I think I never saw myself as publishing things or being a writer, and then getting into Nexus, I realized that there is a place for me, and because of Nexus, honestly, I’ve ventured out.”
This event served as a reminder to the student body that art comes in all forms and in all places, not just in the visual arts.
