The Hershey School of Dance Company will hold its annual recital on Friday and Saturday, May 15th–16th, at the Hershey Theatre.
There are three performances scheduled: Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 1pm (matinee with younger dancers), and Saturday at 5pm for the final show.
This year’s theme is centered on iconic storybooks, with each class performing choreography inspired by different literary works. The recital will include pieces from jazz, tap, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, and many other styles.
Dancers have been preparing all season in weekly classes, working on technique, choreography, and timing. In the final weeks, rehearsals have included full run-throughs and spacing on stage at the Hershey Theatre. Costumes and staging have also been finalized as the show approaches.
For senior dancers, this recital marks their final performance with the company, making it an emotional moment as they close out years alongside the dance studio. Katelyn Yurick, a senior at Hershey School of Dance, stated, “I’ve been dancing with the studio for 13 years, and I am going to miss Hershey School of Dance so much. I am so excited to dance with my second family one last time.”
The recital is the company’s end-of-year performance and showcases what the students have worked on throughout the season.
Tickets are available through the Hershey Theatre box office and on the Ticketmaster website. They can also be purchased in person at the venue, depending on availability.
