The Hershey Ice hockey team defeated Penncrest High School 6-1 in West Chester on March 18, 2026.

The first period ended with a 0-0 score despite Penncrest outshooting Hershey 15 to 3.

In the second period, Hershey cracked open Penncrest’s defense and scored 3 goals: sophomore Gabriel Placeres, senior Brady Cox, and sophomore Cole Umberger.

At the end of the second period, the score was 3-0 Hershey, although Penncrest was leading the shots tally 18-9. In the third period, Hershey scored 3 more goals: sophomore Gabriel Placeres, sophomore Braden Boblick, and sophomore Cole Umberger. Penncrest scored a consolation goal with 26 seconds remaining, but the game was long since over.

Heading into the game, Penncrest averaged 7 goals a game to the Trojans’ 5.5.  The Trojans had a stingy defense all season, only allowing 2.2 goals a game, but Penncrest was even more dominant, allowing just 1 goal per game, according to Gamesheet.

Hershey advances to the State Final against the Penguin Cup winner, Quaker Valley. Quaker Valley defeated Avonworth 6-2, giving Quaker Valley its sixth Penguin Cup title and its first since 2014, when it won three in a row.  Quaker Valley is in Leetsdale, PA, just west of Pittsburgh.

The final will be played on Saturday, March 21, at 11 am at West Chester’s Ice Line.
