The new film Regretting You is a romance drama based on a 2019 Colleen Hoover book. Opening weekend, the film was at #1, earning an estimated $8.1 million in North America.
This exciting new movie features actors Allison Williams, McKenna Grace, Dave Franco, Mason Thames, Scott Eastwood, and Willa Fitzgerald.
The PG-13 movie is centered on the broken relationship between a mother, Morgan Grant (Allison Williams), and a teenage daughter, Clara (Mckena Grace).
After the death of Morgan’s husband and sister, the characters, Morgan Grant and Jonah Sullivan (Dave Franco) unravel a shocking betrayal. While Clara’s mom reveals the truth, she finds herself falling in love with Miller Adams (Mason Thames). The main characters explore what’s left behind as they discover family secrets and refine love for one another.
Colleen Hoover is a New York Times bestselling author of more than 23 novels, primarily on romance and young adult genres. Her best sellers include “It Ends with Us” also turned into a 2024 film and “Reminders of Him” becoming a film in 2026.
Hoover’s 2019 book, Regretting You, climbed to the top of the bestseller lists after almost 6 years after its release. The film based on the bestseller was released in theaters last month, on October 24, 2025. It has a running time of one hour and 57 minutes with the audiobook being 11 hours and 17 minutes long. The film was directed by Josh Doone who produced “The Fault in Our Stars” and “The New Mutants.”
The plot came with a lot of twists and turns being an intense, uplifting film. The movie focuses on dealing with grief and healing while highlighting the significance of communication and the regrets of the past.
Thanks to the lead actors — Allison Williams, McKenna Grace, Dave Franco, and Mason Thames — viewers get to see the realness of grief, love, and forgiveness.
Overall, the plot is all over the place, but I still recommend seeing it. If you know family or friends like a romance drama, you can view the trailer here or buy your tickets online now from Fandango.
