This past week was packed with action for Hershey athletics, as our fall sports teams faced tough opponents, close games, and even a bit of history.
The varsity golf team won the Hershey High School Golf Invitational on Sunday at the Hershey Country Club. Senior Carson Hummer finished first in the Boys individual tournament, with senior Miles Wilson finishing second.
The varsity football team took the field for the annual Gold Out game against Lower Dauphin. In a hard-fought matchup, the Trojans came up just short, falling 24–27. The team now sits at 4-2 this season with a 48-31 win over Gettysburg High School. They next face Red Land at home on October 3.
The girls’ field hockey team continued its strong season, securing back-to-back victories. On Sept. 18, they battled past Cedar Cliff for a 2–1 win, and on Sept. 23, they repeated the feat with another 2–1 victory over Northern. With these wins, their record improves to 4–2. Today they face Palmyra High School at 6:30 pm at home.
On the pitch, the boys’ soccer team found success with two shutouts. They won against Central Dauphin 1–0 on Sept. 20, then blanked Red Land 2–0 on Sept. 22, showing solid defense and clutch scoring. They traveled to Kennard-Dale High School and came away with a 3-0 shutout victory, bringing their record to 8-1. Next, they travel to Northern on Wednesday, October 1.
The girls’ soccer team had a split week. After falling to Bishop McDevitt 1–3 on Sept. 18, they bounced back with a commanding 3–1 victory over Red Land on Sept. 22. Their season record now stands at 2–6. They are next at home against Northern High School on October 1, 2025 at 6:30 pm.
In cross country, the boys’ team experienced a rare setback, dropping their first regular-season meet in five years on Sept. 23 against Cedar Cliff, with a final score of 19–42. Meanwhile, the girls’ team kept their incredible streak alive — remaining undefeated in the regular season for 11 straight years. Senior standout Evy Winder led the way, finishing the 5,000 meters in 20:18. The team next travels to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational on October 2, 2025.
Lastly, the girls’ volleyball team is 4-4 after falling 1-3 against Lower Dauphin on September 29. They are home versus Middletown High School on Wednesday, October 1 at 6:15 pm.
