Dallas Wings WNBA player Paige Bueckers was named the 2025 WNBA Kia Rookie of the Year for this season. Bueckers won this award after being the No. 1 pick in this season’s WNBA Draft.
Before her professional career, Bueckers won the NCAA National Championship with the University of Connecticut. Since joining the WNBA, she has become the fastest rookie ever to earn 500 points and 100 assists.
For the July All-Star Game, she was voted a starter, becoming the 10th rookie in the league’s history to start in the game.
In this WNBA season, Bueckers has played 36 games, averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. She is also the second player in league history, following Candace Parker, to average at least 19 points, 47% shooting, and five assists per game.
This award was voted on by a panel of 72 broadcasters and sportswriters. Bueckers received 70 of the votes, and Sonia Citron, a guard for the Washington Mystics, received the other 2.
In honor of receiving this award, she will receive a trophy commemorating her achievement, as well as $5,150.
