As the new school year kicks off, Hershey High School’s sports teams are hitting their stride with impressive performances across the board.
Football
The Hershey football team started strong with a decisive 42-26 victory over Milton Hershey in the annual Cocoa Bean Bowl on August 22nd. However, the momentum slowed with a narrow 22-19 loss to Shippensburg High School, decided by a late interception. The team bounced back in their recent matchup against Palmyra with a dominant 48-0 win during the yearly Paint Out game. Shortly after, they won against Mifflin County 27-7.
Cross Country
In boys’ cross country, Max Hulays has been a standout, finishing second with a time of 16:45 in the 5000-meter race. He continued to perform well in the September 2nd meet at Palmyra, securing third place with a time of 17:36. Andrew Smith also contributed strongly, finishing just behind Hulays with a time of 18:24. On the girls’ side, Sophia Kim claimed first place in the 5000-meter race twice—once with a time of 19:59 and again at Palmyra with 21:18. Teammate Evy Winder followed closely, finishing second at 21:31. Hershey’s cross country teams secured overall victory in the recent Palmyra meet.
Girls Field Hockey
The girls’ field hockey team has had a challenging start to the season, facing tough opponents, including Conestoga, Elco, Big Spring, Central Valley, Bishop McDevitt, and Northern York. Their current record stands at 1 win, 2 losses, and 1 tie.
Girls Soccer
The Hershey girls’ soccer team began the season with a narrow 0-1 loss to West York. They have also competed against Bishop McDevitt, Red Land, Mannheim Central, Hempfield, and Northern York, holding a 1-4 record so far.
Boys Soccer
The boys’ soccer team has been unbeaten through six games, with a record of 5 wins and 1 tie. Their schedule has included games against Cumberland Valley, Warwick, Greencastle-Antrim, Bishop McDevitt, Red Land, Central Dauphin East, Elizabethtown, and Northern York. On September 11th, they suffered a heartbreaking loss to Lower Dauphin with a score of 2-1.
As the season progresses, Hershey High athletes continue to display dedication and competitive spirit, promising an exciting year ahead for the school’s sports community.
