  • Mean Girls

 

Based off the popular film by Tina Fey, the mean girls musical tells the story of Cady Heron, a teenage girl raised in South Africa by her scientist parents, who move to America, where she continues her education. In the process of trying to fit in at her new school, Cady meets two friends, Janice and Damian. When another group of girls, the mean girls, tries to attract Cady to their toxic group, Janice makes an effort to convince her out of it.     2.) Once on this Island

 

Once on this Island follows a Romeo and Juliet type story where a peasant girl named Ti Moune falls in love with a boy who resides on the opposite side of the land. The gods who are in authority over the Island place a bet against each other,  on what the more powerful force is, love or death, where the stakes are Ti Moune’s life. The bet among the gods is based on if Ti Moune and the boy fall in love or not. Once on this Island tells an inspiring story of love and passion, perfect for theatre goers who seek a show with an enticing plot.      3.)   Wicked

The show that came to Broadway nearly 15 years ago still manages to be one of broadway’s shows, tourists still come to see to this day. Based on the well known Wizard of Oz story, Wicked tells the tale of the wicked witch of the west, and how she became so wicked. In the show, Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, goes off to college and we see her reaction to the peculiar world around her, or at least, that’s how she views it.      4.) Frozen

The Frozen musical, brings the popular 2013 movie to the stage, and even includes two new songs to the soundtrack. This musical follows the story of two close sisters, Anna and Elsa, who are unfortunately separated at a young age due to Elsa’s secret power. Elsa’s puts a spell on their kingdom, turning it into an everlasting winter. Anna and a local mountaineer then set out to find Elsa after she fled into the mountains, separating herself from the rest of civilization. On their journey, they find many themselves in peculiar situations and meet many people and some unusual creatures.       5.) The Lion King

The Lion King tells the story of a young lion prince, Simba, who resides in the African Pride Lands. Simba spends his days exploring the area, and admiring his father, Mufasa, who is also the king of the land. One day, Mufasa’s death is planned and executed by the villainous Scar, who becomes the new king of the land. After this, Simba flees the lands, but returns in his adulthood to face Scar, and reclaim his throne. Tickets for The Lion King can be purchased at TicketMaster starting at $187.00.
