Hershey Horticultural Society hosts plant sale

Maeve Reiter, Reporter

The Hershey Horticultural Society plant and flower sale happened on Saturday morning, May 11, 2019, at the Brownstone Masonic Lodge in Hershey.

The plant sale offered perennials, annuals, vines, trees, and local plants. All of the profits benefited the Horticultural Society.

The flower sale sold hydrangeas, petunias, roses, lilies, zinnias, and bouquets and hanging baskets. All of the plants were locally grown in greenhouses and outdoors.

The plant sale happens every year on the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

In addition to selling flowers and plants, the volunteers are very helpful and provide advice on how to take care of them, giving tips on everything from annuals versus perennials to growing locations and keeping the plants healthy.

The Horticultural Society is always looking for new members. There is a meeting once a month at the Brownstone Masonic Lodge as well as various activities throughout the year, the plant sale being one of them.

The next event hosted by the Horticultural Society is Roses and So Much More, a talk by D. McGee Design Studios, on June 3, 2019.
