Inspired by the album from Alanis Morissette, the musical Jagged Little Pill will be hitting Broadway this upcoming fall. The musical tells the story of a multiracial family in the suburbs who endure multiple challenging moments in their lives. It debuted at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge last year. It was directed by Diane Paulus, with a book written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.

Morissette’s album was released in 1995 when she was just 21 years old. It was successful, with 33 million copies being bought after its release.

“Jagged little pill feels urgent. It’s also wildly entertaining, and wickedly funny in just the right places. We’re reminded that Morissette’s songs are a treasure,” The Boston Globe reports.

No dates have been announced for the performances of the show, but it is expected sometime this fall.
