Hershey girls soccer lost to the Mechanicsburg Wildcats 2-0 on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

After nearly 70 minutes of play, Wildcat Isabel Martin scored a goal with an assist from Abby Engle. With only ten minutes remaining, the Trojans were unable to respond.

Hershey kept pace with Mechanicsburg throughout the entire first half. While Mechanicsburg was on offense the majority of the time, key defensive plays by Hershey senior Micah Nicolson and junior Claudia Zugay kept Hershey in the game.

While senior Katie Cocco and sophomore Zoe Carlson both had shots on goal, the team couldn’t get any points on the board. A goal by Mechanicsburg’s Abby Strong sealed the deal. It was the second time Hershey lost to Mechanicsburg this season.

“Mechanicsburg has a really strong program, and I think that we played really well together. Unfortunately,

we didn’t get the result we wanted. Moving forward, I think it’ll be a good game for us in terms of competition,” said Cocco after the loss.

This game dropped Hershey’s record to 4-5-2, a record they hope to improve in their next game against Central Dauphin East on October 2nd.
