Starbucks Announces Additions to Tanger Outlets’ location

Starbucks has announced its plan to upgrade and relocate their current store in the Hershey Tanger Outlets.

The renovations will include a drive through, outdoor sitting area, and 446 more square feet. According to Chuck Simmons, Hershey Tanger Outlets General Manager, the biggest reason for the renovations is the new drive through and the business it will bring.

“Having a drive through just increases business so much. The greatest percent of new Starbucks have a drive through lane, so I’ve been working with Starbucks for three years trying to figure out how to make that happen here [Tanger Outlets],” said Simmons.

The new store will be located in the parking lot across from the current location. In preparation for construction, which began in late February, the lot has been roped off.

With weather conditions slightly affecting plans in the past week, Starbucks is expected to be open for business mid-June.

The new store will be 2,196 square feet; previously, it was 1,750 square feet, according to Simmons.

As well as adding square feet, the business will also be adding ten new employees.

Two years ago, a bus depot was located in the lot, but it is now relocated at the east end of the outlets, across from Tommy Hilfiger.

A larger outdoor sitting area and additional parking spaces will also be added in the renovations.

New owners for the previous Starbucks location have not yet been announced, but there is currently a growing waiting list for the lot.

As well as the addition in the Tanger Outlets, a new Starbucks will be built downtown Hershey in the 2018 Hershey Towne Square Update.
