With spring now in season, it is a great time to check out the broad vistas of Hawk Rock Overlook. From the overlook, the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Juniata River, as well as large portions of the Juniata River Valley, are easily visible in clear weather. The overlook is located about 40 minutes away from Hershey and is a moderately difficult hike that should take around 2 hours.
My hiking backpack is resting on the cliffside of Hawk Rock Overlook in Duncannon, Pennsylvania. Hawk Rock Overlook is along a section of the Appalachian Trail, a 2,200-mile trail that runs through 14 states in America. (Broadcaster/Gavin Zeigler)
