Christmas in the chocolate bubble

Day 3 of 12 Days of Stories

Elizabeth Vojt, Arts and Entertainment Editor

With a number of enjoyable pastimes, everyone is sure to find something they’ll enjoy in Hershey at Christmas Time. Below are five fun activities that are sure to fill you with Christmas Cheer.

The Nutcracker

Everyone knows the story of Nutcracker: a young girl, Clara, gets gifted a nutcracker doll for Christmas, which she and her brother, Frederick, break in a fight. Her Uncle then casts a spell on the nutcracker in an attempt to repair it. This spell transports Clara into a magical world filled with a mice king, sugarplum fairies, and angels. While the official nutcracker is put on by the New York City Ballet, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet will be performing their own version of the show on December 17th and 18th at the Hershey Theatre

Sweet Lights

Returning to Hershey for the 19th year in a row, Hershey Sweet Lights are open every night until January 1st. 600 light up displays cover two miles of trails for visitors to drive through. Prices for a single car range from $23.95 to $35.95 when tickets are purchased before 5 pm the day of the visit.

Chocolate World

If you’re looking for something budget friendly, check out Hershey’s Chocolate World. After taking a trip on the iconic chocolate factory ride, stop by the chocolate house, located in the store and decorated entirely with real Hershey’s chocolate and candy. Free pictures with Santa, and maybe even the Grinch, are also available at times. Chocolate World is also offering breakfast with Santa and cookie and ornament decorating with Mrs. Clause.

Stop by Candylane for a variety of fun Christmas themed activities. A variety of roller coasters and rides remain open for this seasonal version of Hersheypark. Even if thrilling amusement parks aren’t your thing, Candylane has something to offer. Santa and all his reindeer, including Rudolph, are back and available to visit until December 24th. Every night, the beautiful Christmas decorations themselves put on a show. NOEL, Candylane’s very own lights show, features over 250,000 all flashing and dancing to the tune of different Christmas carols. Tickets to Christmas Candylane are $52.95 each when purchased online.

Christmas Shows

This winter, the Giant Center is hosting a handful of Christmas concerts. On December 20th, Pentatonix, an a cappella group, will be performing their Christmas Spectacular. The next day, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be stopping in to give a show: Ghosts of Christmas Eve. Both of these performances are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.
