Mallory Gillespie and Madeline Smith

The battle between the Trojans and the Crusaders was originally scheduled for Monday, October 25th. Senior Luke Hoover scored the first goal of the game assisted by senior Ben Zimmer with 24 minutes left in the first half putting the Trojans up 1-0.

The game was postponed with 11 minutes left in the first half due to storm hazards, and was to be picked up exactly where it ended on Tuesday, October 26th.

On Tuesday, sophomore Riley Schmidt scored 50 seconds into the second half off of Hoover’s corner giving the Trojans a 2-0 lead.

The Trojans closed out the sweep with an unassisted goal from Zimmer with 11 minutes left, finalizing their 3-0 victory.

“We definitely came out better on Tuesday than we did on Monday.” said Zimmer, “The nerves of our first playoff game definitely had an effect on our play but they were completely gone on Tuesday and we played much better.”

The boys will host No. 8 Mannheim Central in the District III quarter finals on Thursday, October 28 at 7 PM.
