DTSD School Board authorizes plan for virtual instruction if needed

The Derry Township school board decided on a possible virtual instruction plan with a vote of seven to two at the school board meeting on September 27, 2021.

Their plan, outlined in the meeting notes, is to transition to a virtual setting when COVID-19 cases exceed 5% of the population of a building in two weeks. It also details that if there are 3 or more classroom outbreaks simultaneously, the same virtual model will be implemented.

The Hershey Elementary School was shut down the previous Friday for exceeding the 5% needed to transition a school to online, and opened October 4th.

COVID-19 numbers for Derry Township School District can be tracked on the mobile dashboard, which can be found on the district website.
