Cocoa Packs Returns to Hershey Middle School

Clare Canavan, Editor in Chief

Cocoa Packs has returned to their home location at Hershey Middle School as of April 19, 2020.

Cocoa Packs was in a temporary location at Spring Creek Church since the beginning of school shutdowns in Pennsylvania. Throughout the whole COVID-19 outbreak, Cocoa Packs has supplied food each week to students and families in need.

According to the Cocoa Packs Website, they “provide ‘grab & go’ breakfasts & lunches which have been subsidized by the Derry Township School District, Cocoa Packs, and emergency food boxes to our current recipients and any other child that needs assistance.”

Cocoa Packs will also be continuing with the drive-thru pickup which will now be located at the front of Hershey Middle School. The drive-thru will be open on Tuesdays from 10am to 6pm.

Previously, Cocoa Packs put out a volunteer statement explaining they “must limit our volunteer base at this time. Currently all volunteer shifts are full, and going forward we will attempt to utilize only volunteers that have already been active since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak.” This statement is still in effect now that they are back at Hershey Middle School.
