Hershey Boys Basketball Defeats LD in Overtime

Hershey Boys Basketball defeated Lower Dauphin in an overtime win by a score of 51-48 on Monday, February 24, 2020. 

The score was constantly back-and-forth throughout the game, making it an even match-up between the two teams. 

At the end of the 4th quarter, the game was tied with a score of 41- 41, resulting in a four minute overtime. 

As the clock began winding down in the last minutes of overtime, the score was again tied 43-43. With less than one minute left in the game, LD started picking up their offense and took a small 47-45 lead.

Hershey battled back and retook the lead.  In the final seconds of the game, HHS junior Davey Loyd took two foul shots that brought the score to 51-48 to secure the win.

The game was in the consolation bracket of the PIAA District III Class 5A Basketball Championship. Hershey was ranked 16th overall, and LD was ranked 13th. With Hershey’s win, they will now move onto the District III Consolation Finals and have the chance to qualify for the PIAA State Championship Tournament. 

HHS senior Kohen Stover said, “I couldn’t be prouder of the team. Not many people can say they beat Lower Dauphin twice in a year, and we did.” 

Hershey’s next game will be away at the District III Consolation Finals against York Suburban Sr. High School on Thursday, February, 27, 2020.
