2020 MLK Celebration Held in Central PA

On Monday, January 20, 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Central Pennsylvania held their 11th annual celebration of the renowned minister and activist. There were many different organizations at the Commonwealth Charter Academy for students to learn about the historic day. 

According to Local 21 News, it is an event for all ages and many recommend bringing children.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Caring for Our Planet, Caring for Each Other.” This theme focuses on environmental justice and awareness.

Participants were encouraged to bring canned goods which were donated to the Central PA Food Bank.

There were hands-on activities for kids and adults to learn about the environment. The event had nearly 25 different tables and activities for this year’s celebration, including cultural tables displaying information about the environment and different cultures around the world.
