Books, games, academic resources, and friendship are all available at Hershey High School’s library. Students can hang out, look for books, play games, and print papers all in one area, making the library the best student resource at Hershey High School.
According to the library system, HHS’s library has 13,324 physical books, as well as 4,323 ebooks and over 1,000 audiobooks. Currently, 256 physical books are checked out, but 125 are overdue.
The library does not fine students for overdue books. “We want students to feel comfortable using the library,” HHS Librarian Angela Henning said.
Students are free to browse the selection before school, after school, or during their study halls. Compared to other common areas, the library is the most suitable for reading, as it is often the quietest and has the most comfortable seating. Study halls and lunches can get quite loud, and the cafeteria, where most study halls are located, has abysmal seating compared to the library.
Students must have a pass to visit the library, and you must reserve your spot online to eat lunch in the library for a maximum of three days a week. The majority of these students visit during their study halls and lunch periods. Students may study, chat with friends, play games, and much more during these times. Compared to the cafeteria or wherever else students may have study halls, the library is the more fun option. There is more comfortable seating, drawing students in and causing a competitive nature to arise to reserve a spot.
There are many forms of entertainment offered to students in the library. Games are available, and the Library Advisory Board hosts events throughout the school year. In the past, the LAB has organized a Taylor Swift Birthday Party and Friendsgiving, among others. On February 14th, the library will host Palentine’s Day again during all lunches.
In addition to the entertainment, the library offers a vast array of educational resources. There is a printer available for students, and the Career Center, run by Ms. Rosensteel, is not directly connected to library services. You can contact Ms. Rosensteel at erosensteel@hershey.k12.pa.us.
