Due to inclement weather Derry Township School District has announced an early dismissal on January 29, 2019.

The secondary school will dismiss at 10:30 with the elementary school to follow at 11:30, according to the district website.  All after school activities have been cancelled.

The district website also said, “The district will post updates on buses experiencing unusually long delays on its Facebook and Twitter feeds.”  Several local school districts’ busses were unable to complete their run during the November 15, 2018 snowstorm and were forced to return to their school.  Elizabethtown School District had about 500, according to ABC27, who were impacted by the transportation issues.

CBS21 reporter Joe Ducey reported earlier today that a Central Dauphin School District bus skidded off the road into a ditch.  Three students were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The National Weather Service in State College, PA has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 8 p.m.  Local snow accumulations may be 2 to 4 inches with some higher elevations getting up to 6 inches of snow.  The NWS also forecast for bitter cold on Thursday with the high temperature reaching just 13°F.
