4th Annual Choctoberfest Returns to Hershey
October 19, 2018
With the weather getting colder and the leaves changing colors, fall is in full swing. To celebrate the fall season and the month of October, the Downtown Hershey Association is hosting its 4th annual Choctoberfest.
Instead of the typical traditions of Oktoberfest, Hershey will be hosting their own Choctoberfest. Choctoberfest will revolve around Hershey’s hottest commodity, chocolate.
The Chocolate Town Square Park is located on the corner of Chocolate and Cocoa Avenues in Downtown Hershey. Besides chocolate, Choctoberfest will have live music, family-friendly activities, and local food and craft beer.
This event is open to the public, but food and beverages will be available for additional purchase.
Food from local restaurants will be offered around the event including: Chocolate Avenue Grill, Smoked Bar & Grille, The Pantry Cafe, and The Mill. Additionally, Mad Dash Food Truck and a food truck from Soul Burrito will be at the event.
For those over the age of 21, Troegs Brewing Company and other local breweries will be offering samples of their most popular and festive beers. Wine and Spirits will also be providing wine from local vineyards.
A variety of bands and solo artists will be performing throughout the day. Starting from 12pm to 12:30pm, Clyde Wrenn will be playing his folk and country music inspired by his Appalachian roots. Next, from 1pm to 2pm, Hockersville Station from Hershey will be performing. This band is a six piece band whose music is classified as “rock with a twist.” After Hockersville Station, John Rossey will be playing his music with his flatpicking blues guitar. Finishing off the evening, Funktion and RFA will perform.
The Chocolate is not just from the Hershey Company, but also from smaller, local vendors. These chocolate vendors include: Small Town Fudge, Chocolates by Tina Marie, and Rogue Popcorn.
Along with the variety of music and food, other family-friendly activities will be going on throughout the day. Fall crafts and games will be hosted during the event. The Kissmobile, Hershey characters, and the Senator’s mascot will make an appearance.
This event will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the Chocolate Town Square Park from 12pm-6pm.
