Hershey High School hosted its third annual Walk for Clean Water on Sunday, April 6, 2018.

The Walk for Clean Water raises money for the Thirst Project to build wells in developing countries. The walk was run by Hershey High School KEY Club, a community service club. The president of KEY Club, Lydia Gould, senior at HHS, informed the Broadcaster of the struggles to find clean water in the countries the Thirst Project helps.  The goal was to raise $24,000, but the event surpassed its goal and raised $25,262.

Gould said, “The people of these countries are always so positive, no matter what they have been through.”

Through the Thirst Project, the walk raised $25,262 to build two wells in a community in Swaziland. Gould stated, “I will be going to Africa this July or the next to meet the communities the money is affecting and to continue to fight the global water crisis.” (Broadcaster/Clare Canavan)
