Weekly Batch of Bach Episode 10: And Then There Were Two

By: Madi Held and Shanna Sweitzer

Every week, Madi Held and Shanna Sweitzer are giving you a weekly review of ABC’s The Bachelor.

Hosted by Chris Harrison, this show airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC and is about a single man looking for a woman with whom he would like to spend the rest of his life. After extensive interviews and auditions, 30 women were picked to be on the show this season. In each episode, there are group dates and one-on-one dates where the bachelor gets to spend time with the contestants. At the end of every week, there is a rose ceremony where the bachelor narrows down his choices by giving roses to the girls he wants to stay another week. Those who do not receive a rose are then “sent home” from the show. This helps him to then focus on the girls that he thinks will be the best for him. At the end, the bachelor must decide between the two remaining girls which one he’d like to propose to. Many couples end up breaking off their engagement and splitting up, but there has also been a lot of successful couples that do get married and even have children. The show has become popular all throughout America, and on January 2, 2017, the 21st   season started with Nick Viall as America’s Bachelor.

Continued from last week…

Rachel’s Date

Shanna

Nick and Rachel did some cross country skiing together to start off their date. Neither of them knew how to do it so it was pretty hilarious. After feeding some reindeer, the two warmed up next to a fire in a little cabin. Rachel was really worried about opening up to Nick because of everything that could happen like being rejected (and we know she does end up getting rejected because, again, SHE’S THE NEXT BACHELORETTE). Nick eased her nerves a little bit though and they rode off on a reindeer drawn sleigh.

Later, the two of them sat down with some wine and had a talk while opening up to each other about their relationship. Rachel couldn’t believe herself when she told Nick that she’s falling in love with him. This was cute but I can barely enjoy it knowing the fact that they don’t end up together. Anyway, the date ended on a good note.

In the tweet below Rachel and Nick share a moment on their one-on-one date in Finland. Rachel finally told Nick she loved him but later at the rose ceremony, she was sent home. (Twitter/@BachelorABC)

Vanessa’s Date

Madi

Vanessa and Nick started off their date by having a little fun: ice bath in the middle of the woods. The water was so cold that the first time they got in, they only made it four seconds before getting out. However, they kept challenging themselves to stay in longer and would run inside to the heat and then run back and try to stay in the ice longer than the last time. After many attempts of trying to get in and stay in the cold water, they resorted to the hot tub to warm up. They had serious discussions about how traditional Vanessa’s family is and if Nick would be willing to get himself into that. They then later sat down for dinner and talked more about the traditional family aspect and even started talking about the living situation. Nick said he couldn’t really see himself living in Canada but at the end of the day, he would be willing to for someone he loves. Vanessa then continued to to express her feeling for him. Later, he  told the cameras that this one out of his three relationships might be the most complicated.

The Rose Ceremony

This was a really intense one and definitely the most important rose ceremony yet. Nick started off really emotional even before handing out the roses. The first was given to Raven (YES). The second and only rose was given to Vanessa. Big shocker. Rachel finally goes home. It was actually really sad, though, because she really opened up to Nick. After an extremely emotional goodbye, Rachel left. We all know now that she has so many more chances for love being the next bachelorette.

Current Standings
