What will this year’s Mini-Thon look like?

Mini Thon is an annual event hosted by Hershey High School that aims to support children battling cancer. A variety of fun activities and fundraising efforts are offered, and all proceeds from the event will benefit The Four Diamonds Fund.

Mini Thon Managing Director Tulsi Patel has been a member of Mini Thon for nearly four years now and has been a member of Mini-Thon leadership for three of these years. “It’s so wonderful to see the kids smile. Knowing that every penny we raise can make them feel better is what makes me continue to help,” Patel said.

Patel shares that Mini Thon has already had a productive year, hosting several fundraising events both inside and outside of HHS. “Our final events leading up to Mini Thon will be the Bear Pass next week March 10th through the 13th, and Stall Day on March 18th.”

Mini Thon is arguably the biggest fundraising event of the year, open to all community members and HHS students. This year’s HHS Mini-Thon, which will be held on March 21st, will last approximately ten hours, and provide a variety of activities, snacks, and memories for participating members.

“We will have a lot of activities: yard games, a bounce house, a talent show, a luminary walk, line dance, coloring, and a dance party,” said Patel. An annual favorite, puppy petting, will also be returning this year. The volleyball tournament will be returning as well.

Because of the event’s length, dinner will also be provided. “We are ordering pizzas from My Way, and I think we will also have Mac and Cheese and salad,” Patel said. Food trucks will also be present such as the farm show milkshake truck. A percentage of the proceeds from these trucks will also go to The Four Diamonds Fund.

“I encourage everyone to come. It’s for a great cause, and it will be really fun. I’ve made some of my best memories through Mini-Thon” said Patel. Patel also notes that students who pay admission ($50), and stay till the end of the event, can receive ten service hours. All proceeds will go towards the Four Diamonds Fund which is a non profit organization that supports the families of children battling cancer.

The camera we are working toward is the Sony a7 II Mirrorless Camera. It retails for about $1000 at B&H Photo and Video and comes with a kit lens, a 28-70mm. The lens is a big telephoto suitable for event and sports coverage, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports Lens (Sony E). This lens retails for about $1500 at B&H Photo and Video.
