The Trojans hockey team lost to Palmyra 3-5 on Friday, January 5. Despite their home advantage, playing at Klick Lewis Arena, the Trojans’ struggle in the first and second period ultimately led to their defeat.
In only the first 4 minutes of the game, Palmyra player Andrew Bauer scored the first goal of the night, assisted by teammate Sean Kelly. Only 9 minutes later, Kelley brought home the second and last goal of the 1st period.
The Trojans continued to struggle in the second period as Andrew Bauer scored his second goal of the evening. Chase Herr scored his first just a moment later, making the score 4-0 in Palmyra’s favor. In the last minutes of the period, Trojan Tyler Lucas scored Hershey’s first goal of the night with an assist by Ryan Dhawan, changing the score to 4-1.
In the third period, the Trojans proceeded to score two more goals. The first was scored by Brady Cox and the second was scored by Tyler Treadway with another assist from Ryan Dhawan. Despite the Trojans’ success in the last quarter of the game, they fell to Palmyra 5-3, with Ander Bauer scoring yet another goal in the last period.
The Trojans’ record is still strong, with 9 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties. Hershey’s next game will be against Lower Dauphin at Twin Ponds East on January 8th.
