Hershey High School boys ice hockey crushed Lower Dauphin 10-0, during the Merriman-Weare Winter Classic game, on Friday February 6th, 2016, at Klick Lewis Arena.
Junior Joey Mishler opened the scoring for the Trojans early in the 1st period, with a goal at 4:19 assisted by Zane Elliott. From there, the Trojans offense stole the show.
Seven different trojans scored throughout the game. Three of those seven goals were from Sabatino Iannnarello, including the game winner. Junior, Zane Elliott, netted two of his own in the shortened game.
Some other players who scored were, Ryan Sullivan, Jason Lehmann, Adam Paymer, and Caden Freer.
Hershey’s goaltender, Aaron Dobrolsky, faced 16 shots making all 16 saves. Lower Dauphin goalie, Ty Dreibelbeis, faced 22 shots making just 12 saves.
The Merriman-Weare Winter Classic is a game to honor Robert Merriman and Nancy Weare-Merriman. The tradition behind the cup is to embrace the cross town rivalry between the two teams. The tradition started four years ago during the Hershey Bears Outdoor Winter Classic. Since then, the Trojans have won the past four cups.
