This isn’t the only philanthropic act the Krispy Kreme organization is doing. Throughout the next few weeks employees are heading to vaccination centers to provide donuts to the volunteers and doctors.

Despite the good intentions of the promotion, Krispy Kreme has received some backlash from giving out free donuts.

People took to social media and criticized the company for promoting eating a donut a day in the middle of a global pandemic. A main topic of concern that came up was the topic of obesity, and the topic that the company is discriminating against those who are anti-vaccine.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance Live, Krispy Kreme CEO Mike Tattersfield said, “We’re a sweet treat company…If folks don’t want to visit a doughnut shop, they don’t have to,” according to USA Today.

For those who are interested in taking part in this promotion, make sure to bring a Covid-19 vaccination record card to any Krispy Kreme location, and prepare to enjoy a free sweet treat.
