Hershey Girls Basketball Defeats Palmyra in OT

Hershey Girls Basketball team defeated the Palmyra Cougars in an overtime win by a score of 47-43 on Friday, January 24.

Both teams were evenly matched and the score was tight throughout. 

In the final four minutes of the third quarter, Hershey dominated both offensively and defensively, out scoring Palmyra nine to one. Hershey’s Mary Cotter threw up a last second three-point shot, securing the Trojans lead at the end of the third quarter, 34-25. 

The Cougars dominated nearly the entirety of the fourth quarter outscoring the Trojans by 11 points.

With only seconds left to play in the game, Cotter came up big again for Hershey nailing another three to tie the game at 42-42 and force overtime. 

The Trojans jumped out to a quick lead with a basket from sophomore Anna Coulter.  Before the overtime was over she would score three more points from the free throw line.  The Trojans turned on the defensive pressure and only allowed a single point from the Palmyra squad.

Cotter led the Trojans with 11 points. Junior Zoe Carlson and Coulter also contributed to the win scoring ten and nine points respectively. 

The Trojans currently stand at 9-9, and their next game will be Friday, January 31 against Susquehanna.
