Weekly Batch of Bach Episode 6: Another Three Bite The Dust

Shanna Sweitzer and Madi Held

Every week, Madi Held and Shanna Sweitzer are giving you a weekly review of ABC’s The Bachelor.

Hosted by Chris Harrison, this show aires on Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC and is about a single man looking for a woman with whom he would like to spend the rest of his life. After extensive interviews and auditions, 30 women were picked to be on the show this season. In each episode, there are group dates and one-on-one dates where the bachelor gets to spend time with the contestants. At the end of every week, there is a rose ceremony where the bachelor narrows down his choices by giving roses to the girls he wants to stay another week. Those who do not receive a rose are then “sent home” from the show. This helps him to then focus on the girls that he thinks will be the best for him. At the end, the bachelor must decide between the two remaining girls which one he’d like to propose to. Many couples end up breaking off their engagement and splitting up, but there has also been a lot of successful couples that do get married and even have children. The show has become popular all throughout America, and on January 2, 2017, the 21st season started with Nick Viall as America’s Bachelor.

Continued from last week…

While Nick and Corinne were having dinner after Taylor was sent home, Taylor returned and interrupts, demanding to talk to Nick. She told him about how Corinne has been lying to him and then left… for good this time. While he was somewhat affected by Taylor’s honesty, he kept Corinne based on his heart.

After Nick canceled the cocktail party having already made up his mind, 12 girls arrived at the rose ceremony and 9 were left standing with a rose: Kristina, Raven, Vanessa, Danielle L., Jasmine, Whitney, Corinne, Rachel, and Danielle M.. The girls packed their bags for St. Thomas.

One-on-One Date

Madi

Kristina and Nick started off their one-on-one by flying in a seaplane and getting a short tour of the island. They then stopped to talk for a few minutes where Kristina shared that she is adopted with 8 other siblings and one biological sibling who still lives in Russia today. The two later had dinner where she shared an emotional story about how she lived with her mom in Russia and elaborated in how they were very poor. One day, she broke her moms rule of not eating anything throughout the entire day, so her mom yelled at her to get out. Kristina left her mom at a young age and few weeks later was in an orphanage and eventually adopted by a family from America.

29 year old Jasmine made quite the scene on episode 6 of The Bachelor. After telling Nick she felt ignored and getting a little too aggressive, he sent her home on the group date. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Later on the date, Nick asked her to accept his rose and of course Kristina said yes. They then finished off the night dancing to people playing island music. I think Kristina is a really good person and very sweet. I’m not quite sure if she is right for Nick, but they obviously connected on their date.

Group Date

Shanna

Rachel, Raven, Vanessa, Corinne, Danielle M., Jasmine and Nick headed to a private beach where they played some beach games and Jasmine complained about being the only one who hasn’t had a group date. Of course Corinne drank a little too much and took the competition too far, bringing an irritable and emotional mood to literally everyone on the date. What was thought to be a fun date took a turn for the worst, leaving all of the girls questioning their feelings for Nick.

Later, Jasmine confronted Nick about her not having been chosen for a one-on-one date. She was a little too aggressive, and he ended up sending her home which I thought was a great idea. She was going a little crazy. Then the date ended and Raven got the rose (she’s definitely a frontrunner).

On the second two-on-one date this season, 25 year old Whitney did not receive a rose. This pilates instructor has been along for the ride this season but hadn’t really made a connection with Nick. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

Two-on-One Date

Shanna

It’s almost rare having another two-on-one date just a week after the first. But just like that, Danielle L. and Whitney joined Nick for a day at the beach. After having conversations with both girls, Nick made the tough decision to send Whitney home. When the girls saw whose bags were taken, they were all pretty shook up. Whitney and Danielle are both great and like the other girls, I’m too was surprised they were put on a two-on-one together.

At dinner, Danielle told Nick that she was falling in love with him, and then it got super awkward. Almost totally out of the blue, Nick sent Danielle home completely blindsiding her and I think most of Bachelor Nation. He said he wanted to follow what his heart was telling him and that Danielle was not the one.

Nick

Shanna

After sending home both girls on the two-on-one, Nick is completely overwhelmed with how he’s feeling about the decisions he made. He

Danielle L., a small business owner from LA, was shockingly sent home on the two-on-one date. Nick wanted to follow his heart and his heart was telling him that Danielle wasn’t the one. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

then went to explain to all of the girls what happened while trying not to get too emotional. Nick has so many doubts,

and I totally understand why he does. He’s been on the show three times and it never worked out for him. Personally, I feel bad for him. There’s only six girls left, so it’s really getting down to the wire.

Current Standings
