Star Wars Celebration Orlando Brings Big Announcements and Trailers

Sam Allery, Reporter

The galaxy far far away is getting bigger.

This is because Star Wars Celebration just took place in Orlando and the cast were there to announce the biggest headlines about upcoming Star Wars releases, like The Last Jedi. For four days, several cast members participated in panels to give the fans the information they’ve been waiting for. From the next movie to their next video game, a little more light was shed on nearly every corner in the Star Wars universe.

The most anticipated part of Star Wars Celebration Orlando (SWCO), was the panel about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the next Star Wars movie. The panel for The Last Jedi consisted of Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Mark Hamill. Josh Gad hosted the panel because of his recent friendly interrogation of Daisy Ridley on twitter over Star Wars spoilers.

Rian Johnson brought a teaser poster and a teaser trailer to Celebration. The poster features Rey holding a lightsaber towards the sky with Luke Skywalker’s face on the left of the saber and Kylo Ren’s face on the right.

The trailer featured several significant scenes, including Luke teaching Rey how to use the force. Also featured in the trailer are Kylo Ren holding his signature saber, Poe running with BB-8 and General Organa.

Fans remain hopeful for the movie to answer the questions that were left by The Force Awakens. These include Rey’s parentage, Snoke’s identity, and why Luke went into exile. Fans are also curious about weather The Last Jedi has as many similarities to Empire Strikes Back as The Force Awakens had to A New Hope.

The movie will be released on December 15th.

Another big announcement was the trailer for the new Star Wars video game coming out in November, called Battlefront II. The first game received some negative reviews due to the lack of a story mode.

The new game will feature characters from all three eras of Star Wars, and a story mode about a new stormtrooper named Iden Versio. The story mode takes place directly after Return of the Jedi, and the player will be fighting famous characters such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa.

The trailer for the game shows iconic Star Wars characters such as Darth Maul preparing to battle Yoda and also Kylo Ren killing his enemies.

Star Wars Battlefront II will be released on November 17th on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
