Lucy Olsen has officially made the roster ahead of the 2025 WNBA season. Olsen, from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, was announced as one of the twelve players to make the Washington Mystics on May 14. Olsen’s addition to the Mystics final roster came after being drafted by the Mystics a month ago with the 23rd pick.
Olsen played in the Mystics preseason games averaging 2 points per game but was able to play solid minutes averaging 18.5 minutes per game.
Before playing for Washington DC, Olsen played at the University of Iowa with 17.9 points and 5.1 assists per game, leading the team to the second round of the womens’ NCAA Tournament. She additionally averaged 23.3 points per game during her season year at Villanova.
Many rookies who get drafted later in the WNBA draft tend to struggle, with a lot of them already getting cut before the season has even started. Olsen’s opportunity to play for this team should not go unrecognized.
Olsen is also one of four rookies to make the Mystics’ twelve player roster, but the only one to make the team not drafted from the first round.
Lucy Olsen and the Mystics played their first season game against the Atlanta Dream, on Friday at 7:30 PM with a winning score of 94-90.
