The Hershey Trojans made their first State Final in school history, but fell against the Neumann-Goretti Saints 85-71 on Friday, March 28.
The Trojans were up 44-37 at halftime. However, a furious 48-27 run in the second half by the Saints sank the Trojans.
Hershey was led by senior forward James Campbell, who scored 20 points, including seven free throws. Junior Cameron Sweeney scored in double digits with a combined total of 15 points.
Junior guard Grant Later also scored in double digits, getting all his points from hitting four three-pointers in the first half off the bench for the Trojans.
The Trojans’ starting lineup consisted of Aidan Miller, Cameron Sweeney, Roman Panko, Drew Granna, and James Campbell. The starting lineup combined for 46 of the 85 points in the game. Despite having every player who played in the first half score points, the team only had four players score in the second half.
The Trojans showed a historic run this season, winning their first District Championship in 51 years with a 69-49 win over Exeter Township.
