Penn State College of Medicine’s “PULSE” program for high school students is now open for applications.
Established in 2008 and run by a Penn State College of Medicine medical student interest group, PULSE is the “Pre-health program for Underrepresented Leaders in STEM”. It is a great opportunity for high school students 9-12 to be introduced to medicine, biomedical sciences, and healthcare systems science.
The fall-only semester course is taught at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center on Monday evenings from 4-6:30 PM, September to December.
While PULSE is not a course you can take for high school credit, it is a great program to be a part of in order to become acquainted with the medical and scientific field.
You must apply online this spring in order to be eligible for the program this fall, and PULSE is very selective, taking a very limited number of students each year.
If you are passionate about biomedical sciences and want to be a part of the program, contact Hershey High School’s Career Counselor, Ms. Smith, via email or on Remind at vsmith@hershey.k12.pa.us for more information. You can also visit PULSE’s official website.
