As the end of the Boys Basketball season approaches, their journey to the playoffs begins. After a hard-fought, well-played season, the boys plan on resting, recovering, and continuing to practice for an exciting postseason to come.
They will pick back up on Tuesday, February 18th, at 7:00 at home for the first round of the 5A District tournament. The top 9 teams will qualify for the state 5A tournament that begins March 7th. They had lost in the district final at the Giant Center last year, but it is the team’s goal to return to that game this year and be able to win the district title they had hoped for.
Even though there are always things that this basketball team can improve on, they will continue to focus on what they do well and try not to eliminate some of the things that have been a struggle in their practices. Coach Blackburn said, “I know the players love the support we have had all year from the student body and the community. They often comment on how uplifting it is to play home games in front of a packed gym. This team loves to compete, so I know they are excited to do that on Tuesday!“
Finishing the season 18-3, ranked #2 in District III has been a nice accomplishment for all players. Coach Blackburn said, “I am extraordinarily proud of the team and all the work they have put in to be in this position.”
