On Friday, December 13th, HHS musical directors Mrs. O’Brien and Josh Yentsch finalized their cast decisions for the 2024-2025 Spring musical. After students auditioned Monday through Wednesday, they were able to view their roles outside of Mrs. O’Brien’s classroom in the E hallway.
The musical Fetch is an adaptation of the popular 2004 film Mean Girls. Fetch and the film follow the life of a homeschooled student Cady Heron, taking on highschool and social hierarchy for the first time. Heron is quickly noticed by the schools labeled Mean Girls and spends the movie internally battling her morals.
The cast is made up of HHS students from a range of grades and backgrounds in theatre. Although the lead roles are made up of mostly experienced upperclassmen, senior and first-year cast member Benjamin Sheppard wowed musical directors and was cast as the infamous love interest to Regina and Cady, Aaron Samuals.
Lead mean girl Regina George will be played by junior Julia Aluquin, who has appeared formerly as The Sour Kangaroo in the 2023-2024 Seussical performance. Aluquin will share the spotlight with Sophomore Zoya Johnson, as Gretchen Wieners, and Ivana Amill-Fabregas as Karen Smith.
The lead/main character Cady Heron, will be played by junior Charlotte Caples who made an appearance in last year’s Seussical as Mazy the Bird. Her iconic friends Damien (played by Mads Copeland) and Janice (played by Kay Morrison) will also be featured.
The original Mean Girls musical first took to the stage in October of 2017. The musical, which was written by Tina Fey and composed by Jeff Richmond became a success, and was followed by many adaptations after its debut. The musical featured known performers such as Erika Hennginson who played main character Cady, and Taylor Louderman who acted as rival Regina George.
The HHS cast and crew will hit the ground running with rehearsals on January 2nd, the same day HHS students return from winter break. Leading up to the shows in late February and early March, HHS theatre will be working hard to learn their lines and step into the world of mean girls.
