The Trojans secured the last win of their regular season last Friday night against Waynesboro. They ended the game 35-31, making their record 7-3 to finish the season.
Waynesboro with good field position took the ball down and scored to open the 4th quarter. This put the Indians ahead 31-28.
Later in the quarter, Waynesboro was again driving but Hershey made a big defensive stand by stopping Waynesboro on the 4-yard line with less than 6 minutes to go in the game. That’s when Hershey started their 96-yard game winning drive.
After big runs by senior Sean Elliott to get Hershey out in better field position, junior Cam Sweeney went to work. He capped off the winning drive on a stretch run around the right side taking the ball 44 yards for the TD. Sophomore kicker Carson Goodman converted the PAT to bring the score to 35-31.
Hershey’s defense stood up and stopped Waynesboro to get the ball back, ultimately running the clock out and securing the win.
With the help from Sweeney who completed 7 passes on 11 attempts for a total of 113 yards. He had 1 TD and 1 interception. Cam also rushed 14 times for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns. While Elliot rushed 24 times for 127 yards. He scored 2 touchdowns.
Hershey will next play in the first round of the PIAA District 3 playoffs when they visit Cocalico on Friday, November 1st.
