Prior to the beginning of the school year, the Derry Township School District School Board introduced a new policy that bans cell phones during the school day. Students have expressed multiple concerns, stating that they have no way of contacting parents if an emergency were to occur. Additionally, students have stated that the new policy is too extreme, with many questioning why phones are not allowed during study halls or lunches. Students were upset with the rule at the beginning of the school year, but how have their opinions changed now?
