Here at Hershey High School, PickleMasters is a club that meets weekly to play pickleball.
Pickleball is an easy sport that involves a paddle and a baseball-sized wiffleball. It is played on a court similar to a tennis court. All equipment is provided by the staff advisor Sam Brenneman.
There was recently an election for club officers. Lauren Nutt is the president and Elizabeth Shaffer is the vice president. Having a president will benefit the club, making it more inclusive and able to fundraise for new equipment.
Every pickleball meetup is planned around the members schedule. It can be held on a weekend or after school, usually at Granada Gym or the Hershey Recreation Center, depending on the weather. If you are interested in joining Picklemasters use the Remind code: picklema
Pickleball originated in Bainbridge Island, Washington, in the summer of 1965. The game was founded by Joel Pritchard. Within the past two years pickleball has had an uprising. Lots of people play the sport due to how effortless it is. All ages are capable of playing. Luckily the Hershey Recreational Center has tennis courts and pickleball nets for the community to use and they also offer paddles and a ball if asked.
