HHS football’s home opener against Mifflin County is on Friday, September 13 at 7:00pm. The Trojans are looking to post another win as they start the season 1-1 after the first two games.
Before tackling Mifflin County, Hershey will first play Palmyra High School on September 6th. If Hershey secures a win against the Cougars, they will be 2-1 heading into the showdown with Mifflin.
From the first two games, Senior Sean Elliott has 3 rushing touchdowns, while Juniors Grant Later and Samir Edwards-Pace have 1 rushing touchdown apiece. Junior quarterback Cam Sweeney has thrown 1 passing touchdown to Junior Bryan Maduena. Hershey’s defense also did not allow a point during the rivalry match-up with Milton Hershey in the first game of the season.
Receivers and Special Teams Coach Al Johnson said the team has high expectations for the season. “We want to show the students, fans, and community that Hershey has a good football team,” said Johnson.
Leading up to the home opener, Hershey has been preparing by “focusing on making sure the players are doing the fundamentals right. We want to limit the opposing team’s big plays when we’re on defense. We need to have solid drives by limiting penalties and putting points on the scoreboard when we’re on offense,” said Johnson.
The game will be the first on Hershey’s campus since the 2021 Covid-impacted season.
After starting 1-1, Hershey hopes to secure two more wins against Palmyra this week and Mifflin the following week. Following those games, they will compete with Lower Dauphin and Gettysburg, which are both home games, to end the month of September.
