Have a little extra time on your hands? Making ornaments is a great way to entertain yourself. Take a look at these six ornament tutorials using common household items:
A striped heart shaped fabric lays on top of a leaf. Old towels can be used for fabric. (On Sutton Place),
You will need: Old fabric, sewing scissors (normal ones work as well), stuffing material (such as cotton or rice), thread, and a needle.
Perfect for making use of old towels or clothes, this cute heart shaped ornament will make a wonderful addition to any tree.
A pine snow globe ornament hangs of a tree. This ornament may require a trip to the craft store, but it is well worth it. (The Crazy Craft Lady)
You will need: clear plastic ornaments, fake snow, pine cones, twine, and scissors. Optional: Gilding brass paint and a paint brush.)
These ornaments do not only look beautiful, but will keep you busy for quite some time. Make sure to get pine cones that can fit through the top of the ornament.

You will need: boiling water, borax, pipe cleaners, string, and a popsicle stick.
This doubles as a science experiment and craft. Make sure to get an array of food coloring as well!
4.Cat Embroidery Hoop Ornament
A single cat ornament. Different materials and colors could be used to customize how the cat looks.
You will need: linen, felt, tear away stabilizer, 4” embroidery hoop, ribbon, hot glue + gun, christmas buttons, thread, needle, and mini buttons.
These adorable cat ornaments are worth all the time it takes to sew them and are a good introduction to sewing.
