World Alzheimer’s Day is celebrated every year on September 21st. This day was created to bring awareness to this disease. Alzheimer’s is one of the most prevelant forms of dementia.
Alzheimer’s is a form of dementia that affects the memory and impairs daily functions of a person’s life. It is about 60% to 80% responsible for most dementia cases. Additionally, it is the leading cause of death in the United States. There are no true prevention measures and still no cure.
Instead of dwelling on how impactful it is to the U.S. deathtoll, Americans can support this cause and help raise awareness. Raising awareness is super easy to do and can be done in various ways. People can participate in races for Alzheimer’s, raise money at local events, and donate to the many websites to help research. One website would be Alzheimer’s Association.
