Movie Review: Luckiest Girl Alive
May 3, 2023
The movie Luckiest Girl Alive is a phenomenal movie highlighting an unfortunately common struggle for many women and girls: sexual assault and rape. The movie is directed by Mike Barker, and stars Ani Fanelli (Mila Kunis), Luke Harrison (Finn Wittrock), andrew Larson (Scoot Mcnairy), Lolo Vincent (Jennifer Beals), Chiara Aurelia (Young Ani), and many others. It tells the story of what a young teen girl had to go through, and how much she grew and accomplished. The acting is exceptional and the suspense is thrilling. This movie teaches a good lesson and shares an inspiring message for teens and adults.
Luckiest Girl Alive is about a girl named Ani. She writes for a magazine and is about to marry her fiancé. After a series of traumatic events including a gang rape and school shooting, she tries to change her life for the better and leave that in the past. A producer reaches out to her to make a show on the traumatic event that happened in her highschool years. This forces her to relive that experience and her trauma comes back. She decides to come forward with her story and write an article on what happened, helping her face her trauma. By telling her story, she helps and inspires many others to tell theirs too.
This movie portrayed a thrilling plot, but the actors really tied it together. The suspense and build up is what many viewers enjoyed about this movie. In 2022 Luckiest Girl Alive was nominated for “The Drama Movie of 2022” at the People’s Choice Awards, as well as Mila Kunis being nominated for “Drama Movie Star”. More recently in 2023, this movie won a Reframe award. It stayed at the number 1 spot on Netflix top 10 film chart for 2 weeks.
Luckiest Girl Alive is a heart touching movie with an amazing message. I would recommend it for the suspense build up and satisfaction of the ending. The experiences in the movie were based on things that have really happened, and that makes it so much more genuine and raw. I would rate this movie an 8/10 because although it is impressive, there’s always room to be better. This movie is great for older audiences who are ready for a good cry. If you want a good thriller to watch, this is the movie for you.
