Fetterman Sworn In As Pennsylvania’s 54th US Senator

John Karl Fetterman was sworn in as Pennsylvania’s Senator at a federal level at 1:00pm Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023. 

After beating Democrats U.S. Representative Conor Lamb and State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta in the primary, only days after having experienced a stroke, Fetterman went on to defeat Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz in the Pennsylvania Senate General Election. 

Fetterman won a slim majority of 51.25% of the votes against Oz. Both candidates were seeking to replace retiring Republican Senator Pat Toomey.

The new Senator was sworn in by Senate Leader and United States Madam Vice President, Kamala Harris. His wife, activist, and founder of the nonprofit organization Freestore 15104, Gisele Barreto Fetterman held the Bible on which Sen. Fetterman took his oath. Soon after, the three were joined by Gisele and John’s two sons,Karl and August, and daughter,Grace, for a family picture with the Vice President.
