Electronic dance music is one of the fastest growing music genres. The EDM industry is not only dominating the clubs, parties, and music festivals, but it is also capturing the attention of musicians here at Hershey High School.

In this month’s episode of The Beat, HHS sophomore Aparajita Rao discusses her process of creating electronic music. After years of playing the piano, RAO decided to delve into another realm of music and teach herself how to mix electronic tracks. Since she first began making electronic music in middle school, Rao has released nearly 50 full length songs on Soundcloud.

Rao describes her music as a variety of different electronic styles, ranging from “liquid funk” to fast breakbeat rhythms. In this episode, Rao explains the differences within the subgenres of EDM and reflects on what influences her music.
