The Beat Episode 1: Kimberly Robinson

Cara McErlean, Reporter

For some people, even the most mundane tasks (such as skimming their pool in the summer) can inspire a work of art in their mind. Kimberly Robinson is one of those people.

Robinson, a senior at HHS, is a longtime musician and a budding singer-songwriter. On this episode of the Beat, Robinson shared a quirky story about finding a bee in her pool. This simple task inspired one of Robinson’s recent songs, an untitled ukulele tune.

Robinson has been playing music since childhood, and began writing her own original music about two years ago. Robinson prefers to experiment with different types of music rather than locking herself into one genre, which allows her to develop her own unique voice. On this month’s podcast, Robinson plays three original songs: a bubbly ukulele tune, a country style story song, and a slower indie-inspired ballad. Robinson discusses her musical influences, and what she plans to do with music in the future.

Robinson is the president of the Hershey High School choir and has been an active member of choir and orchestra throughout high school. Robinson plays a wide variety of musical instruments, including the guitar and ukulele that we hear in this podcast.
