Hershey Girls XC Sweeps Tri-meet with LD, Red Land

Hershey’s girls cross country team easily defeated both Red Land and Lower Dauphin in a tri-meet Tuesday, September 13 at Red Land. The Trojans defeated both by wide margins: 44-18 over Red Land and 45-16 against Lower Dauphin.

Hershey’s one-two punch of senior Taylor Mortensen and junior Andie Demko finished side-by-side in 20:43.  Red Land’s Julia Lersch was the third with a time of 21:19. Hershey scored the fourth and fifth places with sophomore Faith Mark (21:32) and junior Brooke Geyer (22:03). Grace Murray (22:14) and Sarah Hamilton (22:32) secured seventh and eighth overall.

Lower Dauphin placed just two runners in the overall top ten; Red Land scored only one.

Following the Trojans impressive performance Pennlive’s Timothy Johnson wrote “[Hershey has] already proven themselves to be one of the District’s fastest teams, and could find themselves mentioned among state contenders[…]”
