Don’t be afraid to get up and get moving.
HHS teacher Amy Wolfe isn’t afraid to. Wolfe got students up and moving by teaching a Turbo Kick and Core session at the first Hershey High school Community Day on Friday, April 29th, 2016.
With years of experience as teacher of exercise classes at various gyms, Wolfe decided Turbo Kick would be the best to teach since there is no equipment necessary nor contact with a punching bag.
Wolfe explained that the class is a high intensity cardio workout designed to get your heart rate pumping to the beat. “This is my favorite class to teach,” said Wolfe when deciding which exercise class she wanted to teach.
Students who were assigned to the session met Wolfe outside the office and library in the lobby so they could have some extra space. “The participants will start with a warm up and then learn a series of repetitive moves,” Said Wolfe.
Wolfe played what she explained as fun and trendy music to get everyone excited and moving.
Freshman Daniella Mimoso who attended the session said the music was and electric and popular music mixed together to give off a fun environment and keep people up and going.
Along with the music Wolfe would walk around and try to get the students into it. On occasion she would call out students she knew and would yell things like “You got this,” and, “Lemme see you sweat.”
Wolfe even gave specific instructions so everyone would understand what was going on. “ Jump three times and then lift your right knee up as high as you can to the beat of the music,” Wolfe said to the students.
The class consisted of different types of jumps, high knees, jumping jacks, burpees, lunges and more to keep participants moving and involved.
Mimoso signed up for the class so that she could try something new and meet some new people. “I wanted to do some exercise and it sounded fun so I signed up,” Said Mimoso. Mimoso explained that she would even be interested on taking a class again
Wolfe agreed with this saying, “Turbo Kick is for the beginner to the advanced exerciser as the instructor is able to show modifications to those who need it. If you’ve never tried it, just show up with a smile and the desire to burn calories and sweat.”
