Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) is a popular club at Hershey High School. This organization is for all students 9th-12th that are interested in spreading kindness throughout the school.
RAK first started out as an idea from two Hershey High students but has expanded through the years. Their overall goal with this club is “to make the community a better place by coming together to spread kindness” states RAK President Katelyn Yurick.
The club holds monthly meetings to inform members about upcoming fundraisers and events as well as spread ideas for new RAK activities. Some events and activities RAK has completed are Breakfast at Derry Township Police Department, writing thank you notes to loved ones, making cards for staff, and hosting the Lemonade Stand during lunches.
The Random Acts of Kindness Club hopes to continue these events but also come up with new ideas. RAK is planning a brand-new fundraiser: The Kindness Critters Sale. This fundraiser is where club members will package little animal figurines with an encouraging note to sell at lunch for $1. This event will not only raise money but also spread kindness throughout the community.
In addition to the Kindness Critters Fundraiser, the club is working together to bring back favorites: writing kindness sticky notes that will be hung up in all bathrooms and hosting their well-known, annual Lemonade Stand Fundraiser.
