The Hershey High School Ice Hockey team placed as runner-up in the Flyers Cup Championship after a tough 5-1 loss against West Chester Rustin on Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Making a return to the 2019 Flyers Cup Championship, the Ice Hockey team made their second attempt in the school’s history to claim the champion title.

42 hockey teams were selected for the 40th annual Flyers Cup tournament located at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. As the sixth seed in the Class A bracket, Hershey defeated three teams en route to the Flyers Cup Final against number one seed West Chester Rustin.

Reaching the net just one time during the game, senior Caden Freer put Hershey on the board with their only goal.

Hershey’s goalie Chris Larkin had 26 saves; however, the Trojans couldn’t slow down the WC Rustin offense.

Hershey fell to their opponent in a tough game with a final score of 1-5.

Ending the season with 20 wins and 4 losses, Hershey Ice Hockey ranked number one with the best record out of the 2019 CPIHL Tier 1 teams.

Hershey’s head coach Jarrod Hill told PA Prep Live, “To go this far says a lot about the boys, how they played, and the effort they put in this year. It’s not the outcome we wanted but, in the end everybody is going to look back and say that was a heck of a run.”
